Expedia’s TripAdvisor Media Network intends to release a Chinese language site this month according to qq.com.
The site is under testing and expected to include online communication tools and video, text review and photo uploading functions.
TripAdvisor’s 14 websites cover the U.S., Europe, Japan and India and gets up to 32 million monthly visitors, with more than 25 million unique monthly visitors and more than 10 million registered users, according to the company’s official website.
The company has been planning to open in China for well over two years. It seems a natural area of expansion but perhaps the sheer size of the investment in time and management was holding it back. Now it is definitely happening.
