Foreign debt up 2%

Due to rapid economic growth and the expected appreciation of the yuan, the Mainland's foreign debt totaled US$233.4bn at the end of March, up 2% from a year ago, state media reported, citing the State Administration of Foreign Exchange. Although China's foreign debt rose in the first quarter, its growth was slower compared to last year's, according to SAFE.
