Foreign-invested enterprises with operations in Shanghai are being put at the front of the queue for power needs when demand peaks during the summer, Vice-Mayor Zhou Yupeng told a meeting attended by several multinationals. Shanghai designates the peak period as mid June to mid September. Demand could rise by as much as 15% over last year's peak period. Shanghai's 34,000 foreign firms accounted for more than 60% of exports last year.
