New Zealand government officials said Wednesday that the country has suspended all apple exports to China after the discovery of a fungus that causes rot after harvesting, Financial Times reported. The fungus was detected on three consignments of apples sent to China, which regarded the fungus as a threat to plant health in the country, while the Ministry of Primary Industries said it did not pose any threats to food safety. The fungus had been tracked down to a small number of growing and packing sites, which China asked to be suspended from exporting.
