Global leadership

The big news is yet again out of the United States. The man they call president has just handed a huge global win to Those in Command in Beijing by pulling the US out of the Paris climate accord. This is a significant step, ceding leadership to China on global climate issues, and by implication other issues, too. It makes no sense. This man should not be president.

But that leads on to the next big news, which is that James Comey is due to give public testimony to Congress on June 8. As we suggested last week, his goal will likely be to force Trump to resign as soon as possible. We hope we’re right on that, and that he succeeds, before more serious damage is done to the position of the US around the world. We could rabbit on about contradictory China PMI numbers and other such issues, but instead: over and out for another week.
