Going slow on high-speed mobile

H-share China Telecom Corp said it would go cautiously rolling out its third-generation (3G) mobile network once it gets its operating license. CTC President and COO Chang Xiaobing said the company's 3G budget is substantially lower than RMB 90 billion, which media reports said the telecom planned to spend building a nationwide network. Chang said the carrier would open up high-speed mobile services only where there was a clear demand. The company has yet to divulge how the network will be paid for or which 3G technology it will support.
