Singapore-based Continental Chemicals plans to build a US$125m intermediate chemical plant in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, South China Morning Post said. The plant will produce phthalic anhydride, a material used in plasticisers that will be supplied to the firm's customers in southern China, where annual demand of around 300,000 tonnes is currently met by imports.
The firm expects to complete its US$30m speciality resins plant at Panyu, Guangdong province, by the end of this year.
