The trial run of a railway linking Wuhan in central China’s Hubei Province and Guangdong’s capital city ,Guangzhou, was successful.The 1,068.6-kilometer railway costs about about $17 billion and shortens to three hours the current 10.5-hour trip between Wuhan and Guangzhou.
That this will adversely affect local flights between the two destinations is certain. The question not yet resolved is how strong an effect that will be.
China Daily reports that the railway will be running before the end of this year.
