Hynix Semiconductor of South Korea, the world’s third largest maker of computer memory chips, has alleged that as much as 70 per cent of the 128-megabit dynamic random- access memory (DRAM) chips sold on the China spot market under its brand name are counterfeit, Bloomberg reported. DRAM chips provide the main memory for personal computers. The company said that the substandard versions made by other producers
were being packaged in Taiwan with counterfeit Hynix labels. The fake chips are also being sold in Taiwan and Europe.
