The EU imposed a block on imports of Chinese- made DVD players in March by impounding a number of the players, Shanghai Daily News said. The move was in response to complaints by international electronics companies that Chinese manufacturers were failing to pay royalties for technologies used in their machines.
The manufacturers are organised into two groups, the 6C group of major Japanese manufacturers and Time Warner, and the 3C group of Philips, Sony and Pioneer. The EU action was taken in response to complaints by the 3C group.
