The antibiotic, which can stop red blood cell protection, was found last year in shrimps exported from China to Europe. In March, German authorities said that the drug had also been discovered in freshwater crab, fish, honey and sausage ingredients imported from China.
Russian veterinary authorities have decided to impose a temporary ban on the import of Chinese beef, pork and poultry because China had not supplied it with information on whether certain diseases were affecting its livestock, reported Rosbusinessconsulting news agency.
