Principles mean something, ladies and gentlemen. The brace of events this week that sparked that thought are the death of Nobel Prize winner Liu Xiaobo at the age of just 61, and the revelations regarding mini-Donald Trump and the Russians. There is a connection, oh yes for sure, and it relates to integrity. Not allowing ourselves to be swayed by short-term considerations of either gain or loss, and holding ourselves to a higher standard. Don Junior, obviously, failed the test. Whether there are consequences to what has been revealed of his actions, no one knows, but as expressed many times, we have faith in that shining city on the hill, and the power of the American system to transcend the lies, the fundamental suspension of principles that has characterized everything about the Trump process in the past two years. The chances of further and even more damaging information about the Trump-Russia connection becoming public is surely close to 100%. It is also certain that Mssrs Mueller and Comey are not twiddling their thumbs and are this week mulling principles of a higher standard. As, it is reasonable to assume, are many people in China. Have a thoughtful weekend.
