Intel plans factory in China

Intel Corp said it plans to invest up to US$450m to build a test and assembly plant in Chengdu in Sichuan province, the Wall Street Journal reported. Intel is already building one Chengdu plant which is expected to begin production mid-2005. Construction on the second one is expected to begin later this year, with production beginning in early 2007. The plants are expected to employ 1,300 in all.
