Japan, China to meet again soon

Japan and China failed to agree on compensation for damages to the Japanese embassy in Beijing and its consulate in Shanghai caused by protestors in anti-Japanese demonstrations last month, but both sides agreed to meet again in June, the Associated Press reported. Japan and China are also to begin talks May 30 on the dispute over gas fields exploration in the East China Sea, according to media reports, which cited the Kyodo news agency. Japanese foreign ministry officials said they could not immediately confirm the report.
