While Beijing will continue to run the foreign exchange market, markets will play an increasing role in determining the renminbi's rate, state media reported, citing China's foreign-exchange head. Part of the package aimed at loosening the yuan's exchange rate calls for new systems that facilitate market-oriented trades, including risk-hedging instruments and a market-maker system enabling financial institutions to buy and sell currencies at a publicly-quoted price.
