Marriott to double China presence by 2015

Mariott International aims to 90 hotels in China, doubling its current presence, as the country’s tourism market expands rapidly, the South China Morning Post reported. JW Marriott Jr, the hotel chain’s chairman and chief executive, said "the company is betting big on China" and that he thought China would become the world’s busiest tourist destination in the coming decade. Marriott Jr said there were already more than 20 properties under construction that could be added to the company’s China portfolio. It currently has six brands in China including JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton, but is also planning to introduce a mid-price brand soon.
