Tens of millions of Chinese are expected to be on the move during the week-long May 1 Labour Day holiday. This has raised fears that the virus could spread further to different parts of the country. Many believe that Sars was spread in China during the Spring Festival holiday in early February.
"We hope the Chinese government realises the significance of having such a magnitude of people on the move around the country, when the infection has not been cleared up," said Peter Cordingley, a spokesman for the World Health Organisation in Manila.
