Minister urges more high-speed trains

The Minister of Railways, Fu Zhihuan, has urged the development of more high-speed trains to counter competition from airplanes and road vehicles. He said two types of highspeed trains would be developed this year, one able to run at 270km/hour and the other at 200km/hour. He added that production of a train capable of attaining a speed in excess of 300km/hour would begin in 2005.
