Hainan Airlines will begin three flights a week between Sydney, Shenzhen and Hangzhou on January 19. Australia, particularly Sydney, is a popular destination for holiday travelers.
Russell Balding, chief executive officer of Sydney Airport, said that the number of travelers from China to Sydney has risen from 185,000 in 2004 to 285,000 in 2009.
This year the increase appears to have accelerated and is running at about 32%.
Southall Travel reports Hainan Airlines began operations in May 1993 and uses a fleet consisting of Boeing 737 and 767 aircraft and Airbus A330 and 340 planes.
