Nissan’s joint venture in China has increased its sales forecast for 2012 by 50%. The new target now stands at 1.5 million vehicles.
The Japanese carmaker partnered with China’s Dongfeng Motor Group to set up Dongfeng Motor Co. During the first 10 months of the year, sales of the joint venture already passed one million vehicles.
Kimiyasu Nakamura, Dongfeng Motor president, said, "Our previous target was to sell 1.1 million vehicles in 2012, but we have already achieved [that]. Our new goal is now 1.5 million vehicles."
Between 2011 and 2012, Nissan will launch at least 10 new models in China.
FFOG.net reports that if the forecasts are correct, Nissan would control 10% of the Chinese market, almost double its current market share of about 6%.
