Poor quality slows Canada grain imports

Milling wheat and malting barley imports from Canada will likely fall this year because of a failure to meet China's quality standards, said the Canadian Wheat Board, Reuters reported. China was Canada's biggest importer with 2.2 million tons in 2004. The CWB, the state marketing monopoly, said it was braced for tougher competition from Australia, the world's largest barley exporter.
