Premier Wen Jiabao called for enhanced coal production safety at a meeting of the State Council Wednesday, state media reported. The meeting suggested seven measures to curb coal mine accidents and articulated a safety development plan. Measures include closing coal mines that fail to maintain safety standards, standardizing and streamlining coal resources, enhancing controls on mining development, management, operations and law enforcement.
