The number of airlines flying between Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou is to be reduced to combat fierce competition on these routes, reported China Daily. Smaller regional airlines without headquarters in these three cities will be barred from operating services from this summer. Stopovers in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou will be banned from next winter, said Liu Jianfeng, the head of the Civil Aviation Administration of China. He said the move would end ‘disorderly competition’ and establish a clear and rational aviation network across China.
