Shanghai joins container top five

Shanghai has replaced Rotterdam to become the world’s fifth biggest container port, according to the publication Containerisation International. It languished in 20th place as recently as 1995. The port expected to handle 6.3m teu in 2001.

All of the world’s top five container ports are now Asian: Hong Kong, Singapore, Pusan, Kaohsiung and Shanghai.
