Shanghai is China's most competitive city, while Beijing ranks no. 4 after Shenzhen and Guangzhou, according to an annual ranking by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The competitiveness of Yangtze River Delta cities has improved, especially in the Zhejiang province, while that of Pearl River Delta cities is declining, said one of the study's researchers.The academy evaluates competitiveness by weighing the cities' GDP and job growth, infrastructure and environmental integrity, among other factors.
