Siemens has reduced its handset inventories in China by selling direct to the public in big cities and bringing out new models for young people, reported Bloomberg. The chief financial officer of the German group's mobile unit in China, Joerg Ayrle, said it had reduced inventory days from about nine weeks in March to four weeks in September.
This improvement suggests that the country's large stockpile of unsold mobile phones, which increased during the Sars outbreak, might be starting to decline.
