Slow net connections in the north

Internet users in north China have recently been suffering long delays in accessing international sites on the web, South China Morning Post said.

The problem was caused by two factors. First, the bandwidth available for connections between Beijing and the US has not been increased to match demand. In addition, the introduction by the authorities in October last year of packet filters to detect undesirable content has created an extra stopover for each transmission.
