We may be in an economic crisis (sorry, we are contractually obligated to begin everything we write with a reference to global financial turmoil), but I’ve been noticing an increase in fancy cars on the road lately.
Porsche seems to be getting a foothold here, if you want to trust very unscientific anecdotal evidence. Over the past few months I’ve seen more than a handful of Porsches on the road, most recently a sports car being polished outside my office yesterday, and an SUV making an illegal U-turn near my apartment this morning. Why anyone would want a Porsche SUV is a subject for another blog post.
In addition, within days of each other, I saw identical Lamborghinis in both Beijing and Shanghai. While this in itself isn’t that interesting, both cars were neon orange, proving that “classy” cars can still be in bad taste.
