A three-month system debug has begun on the Nanjing section of the Shanghai-Wuhan-Chengdu high-speed railway before it goes into operation next year.
The high-speed rail will cut travel time from Hefei, capital city of Anhui province, to southwest China’s Chongqing and Chengdu by more than 60%, although the ticket prices will probably rise by the same amount.
Passengers will be able to travel from Hefei to Chongqing or Chengdu in just eight or nine hours each in contrast with the current 23 or 25 hours once the new high-speed line starts operation. Trains can run at 200 kilometers per hour on the line.
Anhui News reports that bullet sleeper trains are expected to run between Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and North Chongqing Railway Station next January.
