Texas Instruments in chip venture

Texas Instruments, the world's top supplier of microchips for mobile phones, is close to reaching agreement with Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp on the joint manufacturing of chips, Reuters said. Under the proposed deal, SMIC would take chips partly produced by Texas Instruments and apply copper circuitry to their transistors, which would be built with 130-nanometre circuitry. A final agreement is expected to be reached before the end of the year.
