Train speed increased nationwide

China's Ministry of Railways launched a large-scale speed increase for its major lines nationwide, raising the speed to 160 kilometers per hour. The speed increase reduced travel time between Shanghai and Beijing to half a day. The ministry also introduced 19 pairs of non-stop train lines from Beijing to Shanghai, several provincial capitals and other cities.
