Turning rubbish into power

Construction of China’s first large-scale garbage incineration power plant in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, was completed in November, Xinhua reported. The plant, which cost Yn400m to build, will be able to incinerate 1,000 tonnes of domestic waste a day. Sewage from the plant will be drained through specially sealed waste pipes into a local sewage farm and solid residue will be stocked on a nearby mountain for later use as construction material.
