China's largest TV maker, Sichuan Changhong Electric, warned its exports would drop 25 percent for 2003, after punitive import tariffs were imposed by the US on TVs made in China.
The company said exports were forecast to fall to about RMB 4.97 billion (US$600 million) from RMB 6.46 billion (US$780 million) last year.
Changhong blamed the 27 percent import tariff the US imposed on China-made sets.
China is the world's largest TV manufacturer, producing 18.8 million units a year with a total value of RMB 17.71 billion (US$2.14 billion) last year.
