Twenty involved in Shanghai scandal

More than 20 people, including 11 government officials, have been implicated in Shanghai's pension fund scandal, the South China Morning Post reported. At least seven of them have been handed over to the judiciary. This is the first time a figure has been placed on the number of people involved. Head of the Shanghai Procuratorate, Wu Guangyu, said prosecutors are still working on cases connected to the scandal. Last September, Shanghai party secretary Chen Liangyu was removed from office for siphoning US$400 million from the city's pension fund. However, the government said on January 29 that those funds have been recovered.
