The US Commerce Department agreed to investigate allegations that China, Vietnam, Thailand, India, Brazil and Ecuador had dumped shrimp on the US market.
A petition by the US Southern Shrimp Alliance alleges that shrimp from the six countries is being sold in the US at prices from 32% to nearly 350% below prices in their home markets.
China denied the accusations and said the lawsuit represented flagrant protectionism.
