US software firm sues China for code theft

Cybersitter, a California company that produces website blocking software designed to prevent children from viewing web pornography and violent content, has sued the People’s Republic of China in federal court in Los Angeles over accusations that the Chinese government stole 3,000 lines of code for its Green Dam web censorship software, Bloomberg reported. Sony, Toshiba, Lenovo and other OEM computer makers were also named in the suit, which is requesting US$2.2 billion in damages. The suit reports on attacks on the Cybersitter servers from China’s Ministry of Health and alleges that the accused engaged in "misappropriate of trade secrets; unfair competition; copyright infringement; and civil conspiracy."
