Vietnam PM considers legal action against China

Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said he was considering legal action against China after a Chinese oil rig parked in disputed territorial waters near the South China Sea, Reuters reported. Dung’s comments were the first time he has suggested Vietnam would take legal measures and drew an angry response from Beijing. He also said that while Vietnam had sought to use dialogue to settle the situation, the response from China had been to increase intimidation. His announcement follows anti-Chinese riots that represents the worst breakdown in ties between the two Communist states since a brief border war in 1979.
