Citing Project Director Zhang Jiyao, state media said a long debated Yangtze River water diversion scheme to help China's frequently drought-stricken north would force relocation of up to 400,000 Hubei and Henan people. If completed as planned by 2050, the system could transfer 44.8bn cu m of water annually, reports said.
