China’s leading gold producer, Zijin Mining Group (601899.SH, 2899.HK), which caused the industry’s worst metal leakage in two years, completed building three out of four water reservoirs as part of reparation works for a July 3 accident in southeastern Fujian province, Bloomberg reported. Copper and acid content levels of the Shanghang section of the Ting River, the location of the leak, were found to be back to normal after environmental authorities tested 61 samples. Zijin was forced to shut its copper processing facilities at Zijinshan mine in Fujian province last month after waste spilled from the site and poisoned almost 2,000 metric tons of fish in the Ting River. Police have detained four of the company’s managers, while the company’s disclosure is being investigated by regulators.
