[photopress:Air_Zimbabwe.gif,full,alignright]Air Zimbabwe is launching a second flight to China, due to start in January next year to Guangzhou, Guangdong province. It will cater for more passengers and cargo travelling between the two countries as Zimbabwe continues to focus on its Look East policy. The airline already has a flight from Zimbabwe to Beijing and the new route will fly from Harare to Guangzhou via Singapore.
Chris Kwenda, Air Zimbabwe regional manager for China, said “Guangzhou is China’s industrial hub and has the highest per capita growth. It is the number one producing region in terms of China’s outbound tourism and there is potential business for Zimbabwe there.”
The Zimbabwean airline is also in late-stage negotiations with Air China to set up internal links for passengers and cargo between Guangzhou and Beijing, so customers can connect flights easily and don’t have to buy new tickets when they arrive in China.
