Provincial authorities in southwestern China have alleged that Coca-Cola (CO.NYSE) illegally used handheld GPS devices to map Chinese territory, violating regulations for the use of such technology, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing a provincial government website. The company said it has long used GPS in China to improve customer service and fuel efficiency. Regulators require that firms providing map and location services submit for government approval. The allegations against Coca-cola are one of 21 similar cases, according to the government website. Coca-Cola said it is cooperating with the authorities.
