China Mobile, China’s biggest mobile phone operator, announced that its subscriber base grew by 7.1 per cent between January 1 and March 20 to reach 74.59m, Dow Jones reported. The growth rate over the period from September 20 to December 31, 2001 was 9.2 per cent.
Revenues over the latest period fell to Yn23.35bn from Yn28.3bn as usage rates slipped slightly. Average revenue per user in the latest period was Yn125, compared with Yn127 in the earlier period.
The number of mobile data service users rose to 25.25m at March 20, from 21.32m at December 31, while the volume of short text message services rose to 4.21bn from 3.32bn.
