Nearly half of Chinese employees between the ages of 18 and 60 in eight major cities expect to be promoted and paid more or change jobs in the new year, state media reported. Beijing-based polling agency Horizon Group released the findings after surveying more than 4,000 households nationwide. Other findings showed 67.4% of urbanites anticipate an income rise next year, compared with 70.2% of township residents and 75.6% of rural dwellers. Two in five city residents, or 39.9%, plan to move to a more satisfying job.
