Shandong pipeline piracy

A sophisticated ease of
oil pipeline piracy in Shandong province was reported in June by Interfax. An 85-metre-long
tunnel was dis-covered connecting an underground pipeline with a property beside a
national highway near the city of Binzhou. Investigators found that oil was being siphoned
off the main pipeline to the property via a plastic pipe.
The pipeline transports oil from
Shan-dong's Shengli oil field, the second largest crude producer in China.
