Cloee Chao, a 34-year-old single mother of two, is leading group of casino workers to demand better pay and working conditions from the billionaires of Macau’s gambling hubs, Bloomberg reported. Chloe first started a union to get cleaner air at work after she began hacking up black phlegm from second-hand smoke. After her employer, Wynn Macau (1128.HKG) and other casinos ignored the union’s demands, the battle escalated. Chao and her union are planning additional demonstrations after at least 1,400 members turned out last week for the largest protest by casino workers so far this year. The protests threaten profits at some of the most lucrative businesses in the world.
