Nearly 650,000 mainlanders visited Taiwan by the end of last year and that the mainland is currently the second-largest source of tourists to Taiwan.
According to the statistics, Taiwan received around 40,000 tourists from mainland China during the Lunar New Year holiday, which lasted from Feb. 13 to Feb. 21.
China Knowledge reports Hsu Kao-ching, secretary general of the Travel Agent Association of R. O. C., Taiwan, estimated that Taiwan reaped about $63 million from mainlanders during the Lunar New Year holiday.
