The Jinan Intermediate People’s Court sentenced Bo Xilai to life in prison on Sunday, The Wall Street Journal reported. The former Communist Party official, who was a member of the Politburo, was convicted on charges of bribery, embezzlement and abuse of power. Bo denied all charges during the trial but the court rejected his defence. He has the right to appeal but it is currently unclear whether he will do so. His wife, Gu Kailai, received a suspended death sentence last year for the murder of British businessman Neil Heywood.
