The United Nations will end 26 years of sending food to China at the end of the month, UN World Food Program executive director James Morris told a Beijing press conference. Praising China's progress in lifting its people from hunger, Morris said: "We've invested more than a billion dollars in that program. China itself has invested more than US$200 million in our partnership. And we come to a point where China no longer needs the World Food Program." Morris also encouraged China to donate globally.
