China is working to cap its greenhouse gas emissions for the first time, Bloomberg reported. The country’s lead envoy to the UN global warming talks said the country has been studying for over a year on how to make its pollution levels peak as early as possible. The comments are the clearest indication yet of willingness from the world’s largest polluter to join a global agreement that would limit emissions in all nations, both rich and poor alike. Along with other countries classed as developing economies, China was exempted from restrictions under the 1997 Kyoto Protocol.
