Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer ZTE Corporation (000063.SHE) has filed lawsuit for copyright violation against a unit of Swedish rival Ericsson (ERIC.NASDAQ, ERICB.OMX), the Wall Street Journal reported, quoting Wang Haibo, director of intellectual property at ZTE. The suit, which alleges Ericsson products violated up to 10 ZTE patents for core networks, global mobile communications systems and fourth-generation mobile technology, comes on the heels of several lawsuits filed by Ericsson against ZTE in the UK, Italy and Germany. Ericsson spokesman Fredrik Hallstan said the company had not yet received notice of the lawsuit. Separate reports on Tuesday quoted unnamed sources as saying that ZTE may manufacture a handset designed by Intel Corporation (INTC.NYSE) that may go on sale in China. No phones currently use Intel processors.
